Unterlagen Ronsdorfs bis zur Gründung Wuppertals 1929 und teilweise darüber hinaus.
Form und Inhalt: Der Altaktenbestand wurde bis in die 1970er Jahre geführt und ist nach dem Pertinenzprinzip (thematisch) geordnet. Bei der Verzeichnung wurden lediglich die Aktentitel abgeschrieben, weshalb sie teilweise sehr allgemein und auch fehlerhaft sein können und in der Wortwahl oft veraltet sind. Der Altaktenbestand bildete früher den kompletten Bestand des Archivs, unabhängig davon, ob es sich um Akten oder Sammlungsgut wie Zeitschriften, Bücher, Prospekte oder Zeitungsausschnitte handelte. Dies versuchte man zwar nach und nach zu bereinigen, es befinden sich aber immer noch große Mengen Unterlagen in diesem Bestand, die nicht städtischen Ursprungs sind.
The Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) is the central register of the federal government and federal states for completed compensation proceedings. When a claim is entered into the BZK, a number is assigned for unique identification. This BZK number refers to a compensation claim, not to a person. If a person has made several claims (e.g. for themselves and for relatives), each claim generally has its own BZK number. Often, the file number of the respective compensation authority is used as the BZK number.
This number is important for making an inquiry to the relevant archive.

In the sources, the persecutee is sometimes referred to as ‘Geschädigter’ (aggrieved party) and the applicant as ‘Anspruchsberechtigter’(claimant).
