Einleitung: ========== Zur Person ==========
Johann Gottlieb Christaller wurde am 17.11.1827 in Winnenden geboren. 1848 wurde er in das Missionshaus der Basler Mission aufgenommen. Nach seiner Ordination 1852 ging Christaller 1853 nach Akropong im heutigen Ghana. Dort erforschte er westafrikanische Sprachen, vor allem Twi, eine Sprache, in die er auch die Bibel übersetzte. 1858 kehrte er aus gesundheitlichen Gründen zurück, ging aber 1862-1868 noch einmal nach Westafrika, nach Kibi, ebenfalls heute in Ghana. 1868 ließ er sich in Schorndorf nieder und betrieb weiterhin Sprachstudien. Er starb am 16.12.1895 in Schorndorf. Christaller gilt als einer der führenden europäischen Erforscher westafrikanischer Sprachen seiner Zeit.

Der Bestand enthält biografische Dokumente udn vor allem Briefe von Johann Gottfried Christaller und von seinem Umfeld, unter anderem von seinen Schwestern, an seine Kinder und von seiner Frau Emilie Ziegler. Die Briefe liegen im Original und teilweise zusätzlich in Transkription vor.
Christallers Urenkel Dr. Erdmann Nöldeke hat den Bestand geordnet, teilweise transkribiert, umfassend dokumentiert und im Jahr 2010 dem Landeskirchlichen Archiv übergeben. Die Anmerkungen von Erdmann Nöldeke sind als Bestellnr. 9 dem Bestand mitgegeben.

The Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) is the central register of the federal government and federal states for completed compensation proceedings.
