Letzterer stirbt 1766; Vormünder seiner Kinder sind der Wandschneider Johan Kaspar Zumfelde und der Zinngießer Franz Melchert Kuhlman. Zumfelde übergibt nun 1767 die Vormundschaftsrechnung betr. den J.H. Josef Oesthues nebst Belegen für die Jahre 1754-1767. Hieraus ergeben sich folgende Namen: Witwe Oesthues geb. Christine Gertrud Koppers; Gerhard Wilbrand Jochmaring; Dr. med. J.J. Gunsberg; Uhrmacher Johan Michael Frischauff; Balthasar Albinger; Schreiblehrer J.T. Schüttweller; Hof-, Sprach- und Rechenmeister P. Krings; Schuster Franz Deiling; Perückenmacher Bernard Bruns; Witwe Glaser Lammerding, geb. M.A. Busch; Zimmermeister Rudolf Lette. Die Rechnung wird eingehend revidiert. Die unter Vormundschaft stehenden Kinder Kuhlman sind Anna Elisabeth Kuhlman (1773 Frau Lammerding) und Klara Katharina Kuhlman. 1773 ist J.H. Josef Oesthues großjährig geworden. Zumfelde und die Witwe Kommerzienrat Orsett geb. A.M. Krevelt, letztere vertreten durch Herman Otto von Remen, legen Rechnung. Oesthues ist in der Lehre bei dem Zuckerfabrikanten Nohendorff in Altona und will dessen Geschäft, das dieser wegen Alter und Krankheit aufgeben möchte, übernehmen. Aus den Belegen: Prokurator Nikolas Herman Büren; Franz Theobald Tour(…)nel; Johan Franz Daleh in Warendorf; Josef Sentrup in Hamburg; Johan Henrich Danneman; Chirurg Fr. Lud. Schindeler; Arnold Laackman junior; Schuster Ferdinand Nieman; Joan Röttger Plattvoet; Josef Ruman; Peter Franz Vogelsang; Johan Ernst Hellweg; Johan Andreas Witte; Anna Gertrud Schlebrügge geb. Zurmühlen. 1771 wird Josef Oesthues in Altona zu 1 Jahr Zuchthaus verurteilt wegen Mißhandlung des Schneiders Friedrich Detlef Timm. Bei dieser Sache Nr. 220 findet sich eine Reihe Briefe, Eingaben, Gnadengesuche an den König von Dänemark, Bescheide, Briefwechsel zwischen den Räten in Altona und Münster, die auf die Verurteilung Bezug haben. Ende 1781 stirbt Josef Oesthues kinderlos: Seine Witwe ist Anna Margarete Gilhaus. Nach dem Testament seines Vaters sollen die Kinder der Maria Katharina Oesthues, Frau Edelbrock in Billerbeck, ein Legat erhalten. Ansprüche an seinen Nachlass stellen seine Verwandten von Mutters Seite her, nämlich der Kramer Ferdinand Ludorf und der Kramer Josef Henrich Kellerman, die beide eine Kuhlman zur Frau haben.
