Geschichte des Bestandsbildners: 1850 entstand das Büro für Handelsstatistik. 1861 wurde daneben ein Provisorisches Büro für die allgemeine Staats- und Städte-Statistik eingerichtet. 1867/68 erfolgte die Vereinigung beider Stellen zum Büro für Bremische Statistik. 1901 wurde es in Bremisches Statistisches Amt, 1922 in Statistisches Landesamt Bremen und 1942 in Statistisches Amt der Hansestadt Bremen umbenannt. 1943 kam es zur Vereinigung mit dem Statistischen Landesamt in Oldenburg, wodurch das Statistische Amt Weser-Ems mit Sitz in Bremen entstand. 1945 wurden die beiden Ämter wiederhergestellt; das bremische trägt seit 1947 wieder die Bezeichnung Statistisches Landesamt Bremen.

The Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) is the central register of the federal government and federal states for completed compensation proceedings. When a claim is entered into the BZK, a number is assigned for unique identification. This BZK number refers to a compensation claim, not to a person. If a person has made several claims (e.g. for themselves and for relatives), each claim generally has its own BZK number. Often, the file number of the respective compensation authority is used as the BZK number.
This number is important for making an inquiry to the relevant archive.
