Streit um die Amtsführung und das Amt des Gerichtsboten
Enthält: Johann Strauß, Schlossmacher in Kerpen, zeigt dem Gericht an, dass der bisherige Gerichtsbote Gerhardt Kroch auf die Absetzung ("Deposition") durch Schultheiß und Schöffen hin vor Zeugen sein Amt an ihn, Strauß, abgetreten ("renuntiirt"), "und zwar vor eine Flasch Bier". Er bittet, diesem Wechsel zuzustimmen und ihn an das Domkapitel [als den damaligen Gerichtsherrn] weiterzumelden. Dagegen protestiert jedoch Kroch. Er beklagt, dass Strauß, der "Fremdling", die von ihm wohl etwas "unbesonnenen" Reden [gemeint ist wohl der Vorschlag der Amtsnachfolge] aufgegriffen und die Zeugenverhöre darüber schon nach Köln gemeldet habe. Und er hebt seine über 20 Jahre währende gute Amtsführung, die jedermann bezeugen könne, hervor. Er entschuldigt sich, im Scherz gesprochen zu haben und bittet die Herren des Gerichts, ihn in ihrer "Huld", d. h. im Amt und Ansehen, zu erhalten. Wegen in der Vergangenheit das eine oder andere Mal aus Schwachheit geschehener Saumseligkeiten gelobt er Besserung.
