BZK-Nr.
Die Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) ist das zentrale Register des Bundes und der Länder zu den durchgeführten Entschädigungsverfahren. Bei der Aufnahme eines Verfahrens in die BZK wurde zur eindeutigen Identifizierung eine Nummer vergeben. Diese BZK-Nummer bezieht sich nicht auf eine Person, sondern auf ein Entschädigungsverfahren: Hat eine Person mehrere Ansprüche geltend gemacht (z.B. für sich selbst und für Angehörige), liegt im Normalfall für jedes Verfahren eine eigene BZK-Nummer vor. Häufig wurde als BZK-Nr. schlicht das Aktenzeichen der jeweiligen Entschädigungsbehörde übernommen.

Handlungen, die im Nationalsozialismus überhaupt erst kriminalisiert wurden (z.B. Heimtückegesetz, "Judenbegünstigung") oder die die NS-Justiz in verschärftem Maß verfolgte (z.B. Hochverrat).
Verfolgungsgrund
Die hier angegebenen Gründe orientieren sich am Wortlaut der in den Quellen genannten Verfolgungsgründe.
Rolle im Verfahren
„Verfolgt“ meint eine Person oder Organisation, die im Nationalsozialismus verfolgt wurde. Sie konnte im Rahmen der Wiedergutmachung Entschädigung oder Rückerstattung beantragen. Wenn der Antrag nicht von dem oder der Verfolgten selbst, sondern von einer anderen Person (zum Beispiel dem Sohn oder der Tochter) oder einer Organisation gestellt wurde, so wird diese als „antragstellend“ bezeichnet und ihre Beziehung zu dem oder der Verfolgten soweit bekannt vermerkt. In den Quellen wird für die Verfolgten auch der Begriff „Geschädigte“ und für die Antragstellenden der Begriff „Anspruchsberechtigte“ verwendet.
