Zusatzinformationen: Das Fürsten-, später Herzogtum Anhalt-Bernburg bestand ursprünglich aus den Ämtern Bernburg, Plötzkau, Ballenstedt, Harzgerode, Gernrode, Güntersberge und zahlreichen adligen Gerichtsdörfern. Hinzu kamen aus der Zerbster Landesteilung 1797 die Ämter Mühlingen und Coswig sowie einige Dörfer der ehemaligen Ämter Zerbst und Roßlau und 1812 nach Erlöschen der Linie Bernburg-Hoym das Amt Hoym.
Durch eine Dorfordnung von 1810 sollte der lokalen Verwaltung eine einheitliche Struktur gegeben werden. Die Ämter blieben mit ihren bisherigen Kompetenzen als Justizämter bestehen. Sie waren der Landesregierung unterstellt und fungierten als erste Instanz in Justiz- und Kriminalsachen, versahen die Ortspolizei und bildeten mit dem Superintendenten die Kirchenvisitationen.
Zum Justizamt Güntersberge gehörten die Stadt Güntersberge, die Kolonie Friedrichshöhe und der früher zu Stolberg gehörende Ort Bärenrode.
Im Zuge der Trennung von Justiz und Verwaltung nach der Revolution von 1848/49 wurden die Verwaltungsaufgaben des Stadt- und Landgerichts Bernburg, der Justizämter und Patrimonialgerichte an die neu gebildeten Kreisämter und die Jurisdiktion auf Kreisgerichte und Kreisgerichtskommissionen übertragen.

When a claim is entered into the BZK, a number is assigned for unique identification. This BZK number refers to a compensation claim, not to a person. If a person has made several claims (e.g. for themselves and for relatives), each claim generally has its own BZK number. Often, the file number of the respective compensation authority is used as the BZK number.
