Vorwort: 1. Biographie
Die Familie Kochhann stammte aus der wendischen Lausitz. Johann George Kochhann (1724-1776) kam 1732 nach Berlin und erlernte das Bäckerhandwerk. 1756 erhielt er das Bürgerrecht. Sein Sohn, Johann Gottfried Karl Kochhann (1775-1837), war ebenfalls Bäcker und engagierte sich nach Einführung der Steinschen Städteordnung als Stadtverordneter in der Kommunalpolitik. Sein Sohn Heinrich Eduard Kochhann (1805-1890) war ab 1830 Vorsteher der Armenkommission und wirkte von 1839 bis 1850 und von 1859 bis 1875 als Stadtverordneter. Er erwarb sich in dieser Funktion große Verdienste in der Berliner Kommunalpolitik. 1875 verlieh ihm die Stadt das Ehrenbürgerrecht für sein langjähriges Engagement. Sein Sohn, Emil Heinrich Kochhann (1830-1903), war unbesoldeter Stadtrat von 1884 bis 1901.
2. Bestandsbeschreibung
Der Familiennachlass wurde im Januar 1989 vom Landesarchiv Berlin angekauft.

The Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) is the central register of the federal government and federal states for completed compensation proceedings. When a claim is entered into the BZK, a number is assigned for unique identification. This BZK number refers to a compensation claim, not to a person. If a person has made several claims (e.g. for themselves and for relatives), each claim generally has its own BZK number. Often, the file number of the respective compensation authority is used as the BZK number.
This number is important for making an inquiry to the relevant archive.
