Den im Juni 1913 ausgebrochenen 2. Balkankrieg (Auseinandersetzung zwischen Serbien und Griechenland auf der einen und Bulgarien auf der anderen Seite) begleitete ein vom griechischen König Konstantin beauftragtes Filmteam der Freiburger ExpressFilms & Co. Unter der Leitung der beiden Operateure Robert Isidor Schwobthaler aus Endingen (13.4.1876-5.12.1934) und Albert Herr aus Kirchzarten (3.4.1890-7.9.1943) entstand so der erste Kriegsdokumentarfilm der deutschen Filmgeschichte, der unter dem Titel "Mit der Kamera an der Schlachtfront" nicht nur in deutschen Kinos ab Ende 1913 lief, sondern auch im englischen (With the Greeks in the Firing Line) und französischen (Sous la mitraille) Sprachbereich präsentiert wurde. Sepp Allgeier befand sich zur Zeit des 2. Balkankrieges noch auf der Rückreise von der Nordpolexpedition.
Offensichtlich muss er diese Glasplatten von Albert Herr, den er liebevoll Onkel Albert nannte, in späterer Zeit erhalten haben.
Ergänzt wird diese Überlieferung aus dem Nachlass von Sepp Allgeier durch Unterlagen der Familie Herr, die neben dem Booklet zum Film auch weitere Digitalisate zum Aufenthalt Herrs in Griechenland und Bulgarien sowie zu seinem beruflichen und privaten Umfeld zur Verfügung stellte.

The Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) is the central register of the federal government and federal states for completed compensation proceedings. When a claim is entered into the BZK, a number is assigned for unique identification. This BZK number refers to a compensation claim, not to a person. If a person has made several claims (e.g. for themselves and for relatives), each claim generally has its own BZK number. Often, the file number of the respective compensation authority is used as the BZK number.
This number is important for making an inquiry to the relevant archive.
