1943 - 1952
Bestandsgeschichte: Für Fragen der Kriegssachschäden und der daraus resultierenden Schadenersatzansprüche war zunächst das Rechtsamt zuständig. 1940 wurde beim Oberbürgermeister der Stadt Leipzig ein Amt für Kriegssachschäden gebildet. Die Einrichtung des Amtes verzögerte sich jedoch bis zum 1.11.1943 und erfolgte damit vermutlich im Zusammenhang mit der Bearbeitung der Anträge nach dem Luftangriff vom 20.10.1943. Das Amt für Kriegssachschäden fungierte als Feststellungsbehörde und hatte Anträge auf Schadenersatzansprüche entgegenzunehmen, zu registrieren, zu prüfen, Vorauszahlungen anzuweisen, Schadenersatzansprüche endgültig festzustellen und Abschlusszahlungen vorzunehmen. Außer der Hauptgeschäftsstelle waren in den Leipziger Stadtteilen acht Zweiggeschäftsstellen eingerichtet worden. Die Entschädigungszahlungen wurden im April 1945 eingestellt. Der Bestand enthält nur noch eine Archivauswahl von Anträgen auf Schadenersatz für die durch Bombenangriffe in Leipzig entstandenen Schäden.
The Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) is the central register of the federal government and federal states for completed compensation proceedings. When a claim is entered into the BZK, a number is assigned for unique identification. This BZK number refers to a compensation claim, not to a person. If a person has made several claims (e.g. for themselves and for relatives), each claim generally has its own BZK number. Often, the file number of the respective compensation authority is used as the BZK number.
This number is important for making an inquiry to the relevant archive.

In the sources, the persecuted person is sometimes referred to as ‘Geschädigter’ (aggrieved party) and the applicant as ‘Anspruchsberechtigter’(claimant).
