Geschichte des Bestandsbildners: Die Polizeiinspektion Delmenhorst/Oldenburg-Land/Wesermarsch ist zuständig für die kreisfreie Stadt Delmenhorst und die Landkreise Oldenburg und Wesermarsch. Der Landkreis Wesermarsch war nach 2005 vorübergehend zusammen mit dem Landkreis Cuxhaven zu einer Polizeiinspektion zusammengefasst. Neben der Polizeiinspektion mit Sitz in Delmenhorst, dem dortigen Zentralen Kriminaldienst mit Fachkommissariaten bestehen als übergeordnete Polizeistellen ein Kommissariat in Wildeshausen und ein Autobahnkommissariat in Ahlhorn.
