Vorwort: 1. Biographie
Ludwig Leichner wurde am 30. März 1836 in Mainz geboren. Nach der Schule begann er eine Gesangsausbildung als Bariton in Wien. In zahlreichen Engagements sang er mit großem Erfolg Wagner-Partien. Daneben studierte er Pharmazie an den Universitäten in Wien, Königsberg, Würzburg und Berlin. Im Laboratorium von Professor Hoffmann an der Berliner Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität gelang ihm die Erfindung der bleifreien Fettschminke. 1876 verabschiedete er sich von der Bühne und gründete eine Parfümerie- und Puderfabrik in der Schützenstraße 31. Bald schon eroberten Leichners Schminken und Puder die Theater der Welt. Die Fabrik wuchs zu einem der größten Unternehmen ihrer Branche. Leichner betätigte sich auch als Kunstmäzen. So stiftete er das Wagner-Denkmal, das 1903 im Berliner Tiergarten enthüllt wurde, und erwarb sich große Verdienste um den Kauf des Wagner-Museums.
Ludwig Leichner starb am 10. April 1912 in Berlin.
2. Bestandsbeschreibung
Der Nachlass ist dem Landesarchiv Berlin im Mai 1989 geschenkt worden.

The Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) is the central register of the federal government and federal states for completed compensation proceedings. When a claim is entered into the BZK, a number is assigned for unique identification. This BZK number refers to a compensation claim, not to a person. If a person has made several claims (e.g. for themselves and for relatives), each claim generally has its own BZK number. Often, the file number of the respective compensation authority is used as the BZK number.
This number is important for making an inquiry to the relevant archive.

In the sources, the persecuted person is sometimes referred to as ‘Geschädigter’ (aggrieved party) and the applicant as ‘Anspruchsberechtigter’(claimant).
