Geleitwort: Friedrich Behn (geb. am 14. Februar 1883 in Neustrelitz, gest. am 15. August 1970 in Mainz) promovierte 1907 an der Universität Rostock mit der Arbeit "Die ficoronische Cista". Am RGZM war er ab 1909 als Volontär, dann als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, Direktorialassistent und schließlich Kustos tätig. Er gehörte dem RGZM bis zu seiner Pensionierung 1948 an. 1922 wurde er für die Bodendenkmalpflege in Starkenburg, ab 1928 auch in Rheinhessen abgeordnet. Behn hatte sich 1914 an der TH Darmstadt im Fach Altertumskunde und Bodendenkmalpflege habilitiert und war 1920 zum apl. Professor ernannt worden. Als Gastprofessor hielt er 1948 Vorlesungen an der Universität Leipzig und wurde dort 1950 zum ordentlichen Professor ernannt.
