Leonhard Hiltner wurde am 29. September 1816 in Bamberg geboren. Am 08. Dezember 1841 wurde er zum Priester geweiht. Zunächst war er Kaplan in Döringstadt und Lichtenfels (1843). Zwischen 1845 und 1846 war er in Wallenfels, Bayreuth, Höchstadt und Hochstahl tätig.1846 wurde er Pfarrverweser in Zapfendorf, 1849 in Scheßlitz. Seit 1851 war er Domkaplan in Bamberg. In Bamberg war er Redakteur und Mitbegründer des Bamberger Volksblattes. 1860 wurde er Pfarrer in Kulmbach, 1871 Pfarrer in Bamberg St. Gangolf. Leonhard Hiltner verstarb am 11. August 1899.
