Vorwort: 1. Biographie
Erich Duensing wurde am 20. Dezember 1905 in Frankfurt am Main geboren.
Nach dem Besuch einer höheren Schule ging Duensing zur preußischen Landespolizei und absolvierte die Polizeischule in Hannoversch-Münden, die ihn zum gehobenen Polizeidienst befähigte. Ab 1925 diente er in der Preußischen Landespolizei als Offizier. Ab 1936 war er bei der Wehrmacht als Oberleutnant, Bataillonsadjutant, Kompanieführer und Regimentsadjutant tätig. Nach seiner Entlassung aus der Kriegsgefangenschaft im Jahr 1948 trat Duensing der SPD bei und wurde Oberbeamter der hessischen Landesgendarmerie. Später war Duensing in der Abteilung für öffentliche Sicherheit des hessischen Innenministeriums beschäftigt. 1951 wechselte Duensing von Hessen nach West-Berlin und wurde dort Kommandeur der Schutzpolizei. 1962 trat er die Nachfolge von Johannes Stumm als Polizeipräsident an. Sein Rücktritt 1967 stand im Zusammenhang mit den Vorkommnissen bei der Demonstration gegen den Schah-Besuch am 2. Juni 1967 und dem Tod des Studenten Benno Ohnesorg. Sein Nachfolger im Amt als Polizeipräsident wurde im Dezember 1967 Georg Moch.
Duensing war auch Präsident des Berliner Polizeisportvereins.
Erich Duensing starb am 9. Mai 1982 in Ottersweier.
2. Bestandsbeschreibung
Die Unterlagen wurden im September 2008 von der Familie dem Landesarchiv Berlin als Schenkung übergeben.

The Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) is the central register of the federal government and federal states for completed compensation proceedings. When a claim is entered into the BZK, a number is assigned for unique identification. This BZK number refers to a compensation claim, not to a person. If a person has made several claims (e.g. for themselves and for relatives), each claim generally has its own BZK number. Often, the file number of the respective compensation authority is used as the BZK number.
This number is important for making an inquiry to the relevant archive.

In the sources, the persecuted person is sometimes referred to as ‘Geschädigter’ (aggrieved party) and the applicant as ‘Anspruchsberechtigter’(claimant).
