Vorwort: P Rep. 800 Standesamt Berlin I
Das Standesamt Berlin I wurde 1874 mit der Zuständigkeit für die Berliner Altstadt ("Spreestadt" - Alt-Berlin und Cölln, Friedrichswerder, Dorotheenstadt - Stadtbezirke 1-20, 22) einschließlich der Straße "Unter den Linden" mit Sitz in der Brüderstraße 2 gegründet. Zwischen 1894 und 1924 wurde es mit dem Standesamt Berlin II zusammengelegt, existierte danach aber wieder selbständig. 1938 ging es in das neu gegründete Standesamt Mitte von Berlin ein.
Allgemeiner Hinweis: Die Personenstandsregister, Namensverzeichnisse und Sammelakten werden erst nach Ablauf der gesetzlichen Fortschreibungsfristen von 110 Jahren (Geburten), 80 Jahren (Eheschließungen) bzw. 30 Jahren (Sterbefälle) archiviert. Der Überlieferungsstand im Landesarchiv Berlin entspricht diesen Vorgaben mit einer möglichen Verzögerung von ein bis zwei Jahren.

The Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) is the central register of the federal government and federal states for completed compensation proceedings. When a claim is entered into the BZK, a number is assigned for unique identification. This BZK number refers to a compensation claim, not to a person. If a person has made several claims (e.g. for themselves and for relatives), each claim generally has its own BZK number. Often, the file number of the respective compensation authority is used as the BZK number.
This number is important for making an inquiry to the relevant archive.

In the sources, the persecuted person is sometimes referred to as ‘Geschädigter’ (aggrieved party) and the applicant as ‘Anspruchsberechtigter’(claimant).
