Bestandsgeschichte: Die Mindener Vogtei Wölpinghausen wird in einer Urkunde von 1246 erwähnt. Sprachgeschichtlich deutet der Name auf eine Gründung der Siedlung um 1000. Wie die Orte der Umgebung (Hagenburg, Sachsenhagen) dürfte Wölpinghausen um die Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts in die Gewalt der Schaumburger Grafen gekommen sein. Der Ort gehört zur Pfarrei Bergkirchen. Er war Teil des Amtes Hagenburg. 1974 wurden Bergkirchen, Schmalenbruch-Windhorn und Wiedenbrügge eingemeindet und die so entstandene Gemeinde Wölpinghausen (Fläche 2001: 18,33 qkm; Bevölkerung 1970: 1565 Einw., 2001: 1812 Einw.) Mitgliedsgemeinde der Samtgemeinde Sachsenhagen. - Im Jahr 2002 wurde der archivwürdige Teil der Altregistratur vom Staatsarchiv als Depositum übernommen (Acc.
