Der Katholisch-Kaufmännische Verein entstand 1877 durch einen Zusammenschluss katholischer, kaufmännischer und marianischer Kongregationen. In Amberg wurde auf Initiative von Karl Meiller und Josef Wimmer am 26. September 1906 in der Gastwirtschaft Winkler der Freundeskreis junger katholischer Männer mit dem Beinamen „Treu-Gold“ gegründet. Er zählte zu Beginn 30 junge Männer aus Handel, Industrie und Verwaltung. das erklärte Vereinsziel "Pflege der Katholizität und Sittlichkeit,Pflege der Belehrung und Freundschaft" wurde neben der Teilnahme am kirchlichen Leben durch Kostümfeste, Vorträge und gesellige Veranstaltungen verfolgt. In der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus kam das Vereinsleben zum Erliegen, 1948 konstituierte er sich neu.
