Monka Walther begründeten 1980 den Tende Verlag, Münster, der aus dem 1976 gegründeten, 1980 liquidierten Verlag Frauenpolitik, Münster, hervorgegangen ist; Vorschläge für den Verlagsnamen waren zunächst "Annas Verlag" bzw. "Annas Frauenverlag". Ab April 1984 war der Verlag in Frankfurt/Main ansässig, in Dülmen wurde eine Außenstelle behalten.
