The regional church archive is responsible for all documents from the past and present of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia. The majority of the archival holdings include documents from the provincial and regional church administration since 1815 as well as the deposits of the church districts and congregations. These include around 900 documents from the period since 1222. In addition, the Landeskirchliches Archiv also houses the estates of personalities from church life and its own library. The Wilhelm Niemöller collection on the so-called "church struggle" and the Kurt Gerstein collection are of particular national importance. For family researchers, the digital copies of the church books and civil registers of all Westphalian parishes are kept available.
